When we are deciding on what to wear during the holidays, you may want an outfit you can wear to many events. You want to look festive, but you may not want to buy an outfit you wear one or two times and never wear it again. When you invest in classic and timeless pieces, you can wear them many times not only during the holidays, but for several years forward! I’ve got an outfit formula using classic and timeless pieces I found at Neiman Marcus.

For size reference, my height is 5’9″ and I weigh approximately 175 lbs., have an hourglass figure and I am mid-size. For tops, I typically wear a size Medium (10) or Large (12), depending on the brand and fit of the top (for slim-fit, I usually wear a Large). For bottoms, my normal size is a 12 (depending on the brand and fit of the bottom) OR a 31 waist; a 10-inch high rise fits my waist the best and a 28 inch inseam falls at my ankle, 30 inch inseam is full-length on me. My shoe size is 9 medium or 40EU.
Here is an easy way to create a classic and elevated holiday outfit:
- Choose a sweater – The sweater I’m wearing is the Neiman Marcus Cashmere Classic V-Neck Sweater in 3 colors: olive, camel and oatmeal. It fits true to size and I’m wearing a size Large. A sweater is an elegant top that is always in style whatever the occasion. This cashmere sweater is soft and luxurious. The fit is perfect and I love all the colors. - Choose a pair of pants in a neutral color – These pants are gorgeous and I love how elegant and flowy they are! They are the Eileen Fisher Wide-Leg Stretch Jersey Pants in “black”. I’m wearing a size Medium (I recommend sizing down). They have a flat front and are full length. The material is a soft TENCEL™ lyocell/spandex blend.
- Add a pair of coordinating neutral color pumps – One of my favorite designers is Tory Burch and I love these Tory Burch Mixed Leather Cap-Toe Ballerina Pumps in “perfect black”. They fit true to size and I’m wearing my usual size 9. They are comfortable straight out of the box with no break-in time needed!
- Add accessories – You can add your favorite jewelry, bag and/or scarf to complete your outfit.
Now you are ready to go to your holiday parties, dinner with family or a lunch with friends. You will look chic and polished and most likely receive a compliment or two on your outfit!
